Incense sticks
This time something comes to my mind and the technique for waste management .
Let's go ahead :
The technique is widely used in North India but it is not rarely found among South Indians as the topic goes Sacred Flowers turning into Incense Sticks:
India produces tons of flower waste every day. But one company in North side of India , gives a second life to this sacred flowers. Collecting for more than 15 tons of them from temples amd transforming them into handmade incense sticks.
We might have a question that , how this company can make an impact on India's flower waste problem ?
It all started in wholesale markets, Merchants pick up the flowers that they'll sell outside hindu temples. Because these flowers are considered as rituals , and they're considered sacred and can't be throw into the garbage. We might have noticed in pilgrimages in U.P and Jaipur etc.. flowers float on the holy water as people do for rituals.
The flowers contains toxic substances like arsenic, lead and cardium as well as pesticides. Now the company's employees pick up the waste from the temples throughout other temples ,making around 20 stops a day. Then they transport the flower to their facility area where they weigh from thread, fabric and plastic. Workers save only the flower petals for the Incense sticks and sort them by color.
They keep the buds and steps to create compost that is sold as a different product. Then they lay the flower petals out to dry on large traps. Once they're dry, they grind them into a powder that is mixed using water and essential oils until it reaches a claylike substance. Workers dip their fingers into the flower powder while rolling to create a thickness. Then letting the sticks dry before letting them again in essential oils and it is dryed for the last time and packed up.
In hindi they would say a phrase called "Tera tujhko arpan" , which means what belong to the gods, goes back to the gods .
Every stick sold is infused with the smell of success for the company.
So this blog is all about for now , if you find this interesting and useful , do comment on this and share it .
Let's make this technique useful throughout India.
Thank you !!
